How do live one-on-one video call sessions with a personal trainer work?
Just like a regular in-person training session, except that the session is over Skype, you are located wherever you have Internet access, and the session is 40 minutes! Most individuals can meet their fitness goals through body weight exercises that focus on functional movements and using light weights that are commonly found in households (i.e. dictionary, chair, book-end). As such, every training session will only use the equipment you have at your location, and the personal trainer will cater each session to your environment. Additionally, our sessions are 40 minutes, and focused on intensity, short breaks, and maximum effort exercises customized to your fitness level. You will setup a time for your training session and you should log on to Skype at least 5 minutes prior to your session. Your personal trainer will give you his or her Skype ID and you will need to add this Skype ID to your contacts. At the beginning of the scheduled workout session, you will conduct a video call with your personal trainer over Skype, and once you get a hold of your trainer, he or she will walk you through the day’s workout plan and then get you sweating! You should do your best to make sure your video and audio is working prior to the call, as your personal trainer is not an IT specialist, any issues with the video call will need to be solved through Skype. How long are the live one-on-one video call training sessions?
Each EvoTrain session is 40 minutes long. By shortening the breaks and increasing the intensity of a typical workout, these shorter sessions save you time, keep you engaged for the entire session, which leads to improved results over a typical 60 minute session offered at gyms and in training studios. If you are unable to fit in a 40 minute workout, just let us know and we can cater to your time constraints as we know you are busy!

That and increasing your VO2 max (i.e. improve your cardiovascular system) are all benefits from incorporating HIIT into your workouts.

These sessions are all 45 minutes in length including warm-up and warm-down, so expect short breaks and high intensity catered to your fitness level. How does unlimited trainer support work?
We include unlimited trainer support in all of our one-on-one training packages. During your initial consultation, we will go over your goals, current fitness ability, nutritional diet, and any health concerns that need to be taken into account. After determining the best trainer for you, we will get you in touch with your trainer, inform your trainer of your goals, and it's his or her responsibility to help you achieve them. Your trainer will stay in contact with you via your preferred method - text, phone, twitter, Skype, etc. If your trainer recommends that you complete workouts outside of the live sessions, he or she will also follow-up with you to make sure you are completing them. How does your nutritional counseling work?
Your Registered Dietitian provides one-on-one nutrition counseling to help you eat healthy, delicious meals that support your goals. In your initial one hour counseling session, your dietitian will work with you through live face-to-face video calls over Skype to develop realistic, nutritious meal plans based on your preferences and nutrition needs. After reviewing your goals, medical history, and lifestyle patterns, your dietitian will analyze your personal diet and provide quick and easy tips for improving nutrient imbalances. With personalized nutrition counseling, you can expect a supportive, nonjudgmental environment to help you reach your health and nutrition goals.
- 30 minute follow-up sessions - After your initial one hour counseling session, you will have weekly or bi-monthly 30 minute follow-up sessions depending on your package. During the follow-up sessions which are held through live face-to-face video calls over Skype, your dietitian will analyze your recent nutritional choices in order to improve them going forwards. You will decide with your dietitian how specific you want to track your weekly eating habits, and the follow-up session can be as specific as analyzing all of your meal choices since the last appointment, or can focus on a few of the challenges you have been facing and how to overcome them.

What equipment do I need to complete the personal training sessions?
You actually don’t need any workout equipment to get an effective workout! Functional exercises and fitness regimens that rely solely on body weight as a primary form of resistance have proven to be extremely effective for many people to reach their goals. You never have to purchase any fitness equipment. That being said, there are a lot of low-cost pieces of equipment that can add more variety, and at times increase results through a small investment. We offer all of these in our online store, and depending on the equipment, we have a personal trainer who is an expert in using the equipment to add to your workouts. Feel free to reach out to us if you need help deciding if a piece of workout equipment is beneficial for you and your specific workout goals.
If I don't currently own a webcam, which one do you recommend I purchase?
First, if you do own a laptop, make sure you check to see if there is a webcam included with the laptop as most now come with a webcam. For those that don’t have a webcam there are plenty of webcam’s out there and just about any of them will work to train with your personal trainer. We offer three in our store, and each will work fine for your live personal training sessions and only differ depending on what other uses outside of training you want to use for your webcam.
How should my webcam be set up in order to maximize the live training session?
While your trainer can assist you with the set up during the first session, it is a great idea to set up the camera as best you can before the session begins. Typically, you want the webcam set up about 3 or 4 feet off the ground and you should stand about 10 feet from the webcam. It’s important that the webcam can capture you from the floor up, so you may want to play around with the set up before your training session. Again, if you can’t figure out a good position your trainer can help you through the set up during your first session, and it will only get easier every session after! How long will it take to grow accustomed to training over live face-to-face video calls?
If you are an individual who uses video calls in their day to day lives (which turns out to be LOTS of people), you may realize as soon as you start your first training session that training over Skype is as seamless as training in person. For those who rarely use video calls, there will be a short acclimation period where you will grow accustomed to this new type of training. We have noticed that by the 3rd session most individuals have grown accustomed to training over video calls. How do I choose my personal trainer?
We have made sure to put together a team of highly qualified certified personal trainers with a variety of different expertise in order to provide you with a trainer who can meet your specific goals. After you purchase a personal training package, you will hold a consultation where we will help assign you to the best personal trainer to accomplish your goals and mesh with your personality. We do recommend that you look at the different trainers, watch their videos, read their blog posts, and familiarize yourself with each trainer as we are happy to take requests for specific trainers.
How do I use the "My EvoTrain" page?
As we are constantly updating our front page with content and fitness solutions for busy people, we want to make sure you don’t lose your favorite workout videos or posts. So whenever you watch a video or read a post and think that you may want to reference or watch again, click on the “Add to My EvoTrain” button below the post.
