Hey everyone,
Today I have a great interview with Michele Gonzalez, who is the Director of Development at the Seton Hays Foundation and a council member for the city of Austin Mayor’s Fitness Council. In the interview, Michele discusses several health initiatives that the Seton Family of Hospitals implemented to help both their employees and clients live a healthier lifestyle in the areas of nutrition, fitness, and creating a smoke-free environment at the Seton Family of Hospitals. With operating revenues over $1 billion annually, it may seem that the initiatives at Seton would be harder for a smaller company to duplicate, but in fact as Michele explains, a lot of the initiatives cost very little and are often times free to implement! Make sure to watch the video and let us know if you decide to implement any of these strategies at your place of work.

In addition to the awesome initiatives Michele is helping to establish at the Seton Family of Hospitals, Michele has also implemented some great strategies herself to live a healthy and active lifestyle. Here are a few of Michele’s strategies –
- Beginning of days are ‘certain’ so Michele makes sure to complete her workout routines every morning to make sure her workouts are ‘certain’
- Michele runs at Austin’s Hike & Bike trail and also completes weight and resistance workouts at her home
- Michele counts calories (roughly) throughout her day and craves good calories such as fish, vegetables, yogurt, granola, etc.
- Carries around a 74 ounce water jug wherever Michele goes to make sure to get in her water intake for the day
- Lot’s more!
Make sure to watch the video, Michele has done an awesome job both living a healthy and active lifestyle herself and helping to implement health initiatives at Seton Family of Hospitals. So far the health initiatives at Seton Family of Hospitals have helped over one thousand employees live a more active lifestyle and we hope many more in 2011!
Enjoy!
